Two Indonesians arrested for attempting to bribe police

GOMBAK: After running away from police, two suspects were successfully stopped and they then tried to bribe their way out.

“On Dec 12 at around 7.35am, a patrol car heading towards Rawang at KM14 from Kuala Lumpur stopped a motorcycle. Both men were acting suspiciously and when the police tried to approach, the two sped off.

“They were successfully stopped and when told to present identification documents, they failed to show valid papers. During inspection, both suspects who are Indonesian, tried to bribe the policemen on duty,” said Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Arifai Tarawe (pic) in a statement Sunday (Dec 13).

Despite being warned, both men continued to offer bribes.

“This led to their arrests for attempted bribery and for not having valid documents,” he said, adding that around RM170 in cash was also seized.

Both have been remanded for 14 days until Dec 25.
