Partially nude, decomposed body found in empty house in Melaka

ALOR GAJAH: A partially naked decomposed body was found in a house that has been unoccupied for 16 years.

The house owner, a 49-year-old Rukun Tetangga chief from Taman Kuala Permai in Kuala Sungai Baru here stumbled upon the body when he decided to clean his house after all this time.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said the remains were of a man and added that he is believed to be in his 30’s.

He was found in one of the rooms inside the house which has been left unoccupied since 2005.

“The body was found partially naked with two bags at the side, ” he said on Wednesday (Jan 13).

Supt Arshad said the Rukun Tetangga chief went over to his house after a long time to tidy his home when he noticed an unpleasant stench from one of the rooms.

“The stench also suggests the man could have died recently, ” he said.

He said a police report was lodged at 9.45am on Tuesday (Jan 13).

Supt Arshad said the forensic unit from Melaka police headquarters ruled out foul play and have currently classified the discovery of the body as a sudden death report.

He said any individuals with a missing family member can come forward to identify the body at Melaka Hospital.

A DNA test on the remains is also currently being performed.
