JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has opened an investigation paper into an alleged RM10mil bribe offered to Sekijang MP Natrah Ismail to switch sides, as alleged by a Facebook page called “Ops Johor”.
Johor MACC director Datuk Azmi Alias said in a statement on Tuesday (March 9) that several witnesses have also been identified and the agency is looking for them to record their statements.
Azmi also urged all members of the public to refrain from speculating on the matter and to wait for the investigation to be completed.
“Those who have any evidence or statements regarding the case are encouraged to call the MACC office, ” he said.
On Sunday (March 7), Parti Keadilan Rakyat lawmaker Natrah had lodged a report with MACC claiming she had been offered “benefits” to switch sides and support the Perikatan Nasional government.
