PUTRAJAYA: Three new Covid-19 clusters stemming from outbreaks at workplaces have been detected by the Health Ministry on Tuesday (March 23).
In his daily Covid-19 statement, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pic) said the three clusters were all from targeted screening exercises conducted on workers.
One of the three clusters, named the Teknologi Bukit Minyak cluster, is linked to workers of a factory in Seberang Perai Selatan, Penang.
“There are 98 positive cases confirmed under this cluster after 1,685 individuals underwent a targeted screening exercise conducted on workers of the factory,” said Dr Noor Hisham.
The second outbreak, the Jalan Indah Gemilang Satu cluster, involves factory workers at the Gemilang Industrial Park in Ulu Tiram, Johor Baru.
“To date, 78 confirmed cases have been discovered after 259 individuals were tested,” said Dr Noor Hisham.
The Balakong Jaya Dua cluster in Selangor is linked to workers at a supermarket warehouse in the Balakong Industrial Area, Seri Kembangan.
Dr Noor Hisham said 37 positive cases have been found after 72 workers were screened.
There are now 399 active clusters nationwide.
