AMPANG: Police will step up anti-drink-driving operations in the district following a spate of road incidents here
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said roadblocks will be set up in strategic locations to curb the occurrence of such incidents.
“We are concerned about a series of incidents involving those who were driving under the influence of alcohol. These irresponsible individuals are not only endangering themselves but other road users as well,” he said when contacted on Friday (March 26).
ACP Mohamad Farouk said stern action will be taken against those who are still driving while intoxicated.
“We urge the public to be mindful of the safety of others, especially themselves,” he added.
On Tuesday (March 23), a female Chinese national was detained after driving while under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident involving five vehicles in Taman Muda.
On Monday (March 22) an intoxicated man caused an accident involving five vehicles as well at Jalan Mewah 2/3 Pandan Mewah here.
On Sunday (March 21), medical and police personnel who were giving aid to an accident victim were rammed by a drunk driver at MRR2.
